From the Acupuncture Director
Our school's teaching structure is very similar to that of acupuncture and TCM schools in China. In particular, our curriculum and course offerings mirror those offered through China's professional training programs, offering our students the opportunity to learn TCM according to the very successful Chinese professional model.  Through our combination of rigorous academics and in - depth clinical training, students are fully prepared to practice the world's most ancient healing arts, and do so with greater skill, knowledge, and insight than do graduates of other, more Western - style schools and programs.
This is because most schools outside of Asia are simply unable to teach TCM; in most cases, their faculty and instructors have received their training in the West, from persons unfamiliar with the principles and theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the oldest and most successful of the world's ancient healing arts. This explains the profusion of schools and programs in "Oriental medicine," that is, in a sort of generic or very limited version of the traditional healing arts of Asia.  Since all of the traditional medical practices of Asia are rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine theories  -  so much so that their classical texts are all translations of and commentaries on ancient Chinese works - it makes very little sense to attempt to summarize all of the practices into "Oriental medicine."  If someone wants to understand Japanese acupuncture, or kampo (Japanese herbalism, the term means "Chinese method") or any other practice of traditional Asian medicine, it is impossible without a thorough grounding in Traditional Chinese Medicine, from which all of these practices are derived.

But more than this, our College's curriculum is not simply an academic or theoretical presentation of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Because we recognize that this is an art, we understand that it is impossible to teach it fully without also instructing our students in the practice of this most ancient of healing sciences.  The exceptionally high pass - rates of our students when they take the NCCAOM examinations are a testament to the quality of our program of instruction, as is the large number of our former students whose private practices of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are thriving businesses with scores of satisfied clients.

While our program is solidly grounded in the classical tradition of Traditional Chinese Medicine, our school itself is as modern as wetern medical school.  I do believe that every students has plenty hands-on experience while studying at TCTCM.
