The Financial Aid Process
1) Submit photocopies of the following:
Birth certificate or passport
Social security card
Driver's license
2) Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
Go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/index.htm and request a PIN number.
Once you receive your PIN go back to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ndex.htm and file the FAFSA. TCTCM's federal school code is 031795.
Application results are received 2-3 weeks after submission.
A paper version is available. Please contact the Financial Aid office for the paper application. Processing time is at least 4-6 weeks.
3) Complete an on-line entrance counseling session at
www.mapping-your-future.org
TCTCM will receive electronic confirmation once completed; however, please print a copy for your records.
4) Submit a signed copy of your (and your spouse's, if applicable) tax return.
5) Complete a Verification Worksheet.
This form is available on-line at www.texastcm.edu (Financial Aid) (Verification Worksheet).
6) Sign an award letter.
7) Complete a Federal Stafford loan promissory note.
8) Sign an Authorization Statement authorizing TCTCM to deduct tuition, fees and other charges from your loan proceeds..
Once all of the documents are received, and processed, your loan funds will be sent electronically from the lender to the school. Upon receipt, the business office will deduct any charges from the loan proceeds and disburse the remaining amount (if applicable) to you for living expenses.
